A series of mercaptopropyl-functionalized wormhole mesostructures, denoted MP-HMS, have been prepared through the S0I0 assembly of alkylamine surfactants (S0) and mixtures of 3-mercaptopropyltrimethoxysilane and tetraethyl orthosilicate as framework precursors (I0).
